Yuanyyang to Jiangcheng - Thursday 1st December

Who knew there were so many banana trees in the world?! During the morning we drove up and down through beautiful steep valleys and hills covered in more banana fields you can imagine!

Hey Mr Tallyman, Tally me bananas….

We stopped for lunch in Luchun where the locals are from the “red-headed” Yi people – more photo opportunities.

This rather awful-looking grey skinned chicken was very sweet, tasty and tender!

Just opposite the restaurant were a couple of stalls offering camel and yak rides and a beanbag shy next door to a market:
During the afternoon drive, bananas gave way to rice paddy, rubber trees and tea plantations – and a glimmer of sunshine!

The hotel in Jiangcheng was not nearly as bad as we had been advised – the art of negative selling! – and after dinner the twp of us had a delightful stroll around town, including watching a rehearsal for a big shindig in the local park in a few days – army drummers and beautiful dancing ladies. We are certainly on a road less travelled, as we are a source of amazement and interest to the locals who are all very friendly:
