Today we are driving south west across northern Laos to the border at Houay Xay across the Mekong and into Thailand. Beautiful scenery, sweet villages and lovely people. Pit-stop viewpoint – great views to the north.
Then our jeep turned a corner and saw these steps...

An amazing temple in the middle of nowhere.
Next stop was lunch and the river crossing to Thailand. We said Goodbye most reluctantly to Laos and are already planning the next visit which will be to the Plain of Jars. Meanwhile the crossing was a hoot
From the Thai side it was an uneventful drive to our next watering hole - the Anantara in Chiang Seng.
Lucky us, it was the King’s Birthday and we were invited to a free cocktails ‘do’ poolside
