Jiangcheng to Jinghong - Friday 2nd December

An interesting start to the day for some of us  – a Chinese breakfast! So I popped into check the lunch preparations in the kitchen.

Flat tire! Quickly fixed by Mr Gu and soon on our way - remembering not to drive tiredly...

More of the same scenery today but less hill-tribe costumes as we head towards Thailand, and the Dai people predominate. Most are dressed in western clothing, however, they are chiefly Bhuddist and we see Thai-style architecture, wat temples and fashion.

The ladies in this picture are loading tea from a plantation to be taken for processing.
One thing that has struck us is that however poor the village, large numbers of houses have a simple solar panel on the roof. And in the bigger cities, there are electric buses and electric motor bikes – petrol ones are fined if they venture in.  However, there seems to be only primitive waste disposal!!

But needs must – just be glad I can’t transmit the smell!!

And we have many other great road signs. This is the best!!
and this is my favourite photo yet!

We arrived in Jinghong early enough for a massage.  Jinghong is a lovely town, broad, tree-lined streets And very clean  - and the hotel was a cut above, with a swimming pool - pity it’s still so cold and grey!!
