Our excursion today took us up to the green hills to the west of the city and we were pleasantly surprised by the clear air and lovely environment. However I was not quite so pleased to see the “cable car” we had been told of – it wasn’t, it was a chairlift and Jenni’s don’t DO chairlifts!! However there was no alternative so I gritted my teeth and closed my eyes. Bits were OK but other bits were best unseen by me!!!
18 loooong minutes later, we hopped off and explored the Dragon Gate temples hewn out of the precipice hillside– amazing stuff and well worth the journey!
Then a Bhuddist temple on the way down with beautiful orchids and interesting joss sticks. Oh the one below was indeed alight– and splendid internal statues and caricatures that we weren’t allowed to photograph. Great morning. In the afternoon Mick and the other drivers went off to be tested for their temporary Chinese driving licenses – this comprised of a colour-blindness test that had Mick bemused and a request to know his height in meters which he didn’t know, but he passed anyway!! So we are all set for the next very exciting installment.
